How to cut and trim

For a woman, a bench is prepared against the light and she is seated, slightly propped up from behind. When she sits down, her legs are brought close to her widely spread thighs and pressed against her stomach, and her hands are brought under the bends of her knees and tied tightly in this position, after which the doctor begins to cut the membrane and remove excess meat. Sometimes the doctor has to use a speculum, especially if the fusion is internal. When the membrane is stretched with needles and hooks, it must be stretched so as not to cause displacement of the uterus, the neck of the bladder and its membrane, which would cause harm to these organs, firstly, due to tension and, secondly, due to the fact that , pulling them forward, it is quite possible to cut them with the tip of an iron. The mirror will show you what you are making of this, and will inform you which organs - the bladder and others adjacent to it - are located near the closing membrane. If you go too far, then release what you pulled so that the part of the membrane that was stretched unnecessarily comes back, and then carefully tighten the closing membrane again and cut it obliquely so as not to touch the bladder. And when you start cutting, look: if the bleeding is slight, then continue your work without fear, and if the bleeding is profuse, then cut little by little, very carefully, so that fainting and decreased breathing do not occur. Sometimes it is necessary to leave the cutting instrument, called a kalib, until the morning, wrapping it in a piece of wool and tying it with rags, and in the morning you see what the patient’s strength is, and if she is strong, complete the treatment completely, and if not, postpone it until the third day. On the third day, you take out the tool and examine the condition of the cut, placing your fingers under the cut so that they indicate to you how much more to cut. And when you free the woman from what she was treated with, you must put her in the water in which the emollient medicines were boiled, and, moreover, in a hot one, especially if a tumor has appeared. It is best to use ointments on the calib so that they prevent compression, and the best calib is hollow, with holes through which excess and winds escape. If the cutting instrument hits the natural meat, sometimes incurable leakage of urine occurs.
