Diploid

Diploid is an organism obtained from a diploid cell. It differs in that each of its cells contains a complete set of chromosomes; formally, this is a term meaning a multicellular eukaryotic organism containing both diploid (containing a single set) and polyploid, that is, much more complex in composition, cells (sometimes some undefined combinations of genotypes in the cells). In blood and many other manifestations, diploids differ from haploids and metaphase individuals of a given biological species. Diploids have a multiple number of chromosomes, which are formed by bivalent division of a somatic cell followed by mitosis.
