Cataract Zonular

Zonal cataract (lat. cataracta zonularis) is a type of cataract, which is also called layered cataract.

A distinctive feature of zonular cataract is the presence of concentric layers of varying density in the lens of the eye. These layers are formed due to uneven deposition of protein deposits in different parts of the lens.

The causes of zonular cataracts can be age-related changes, injuries, inflammatory diseases, as well as hereditary factors.

The main symptoms of zonular cataracts include:

  1. Gradual deterioration of vision
  2. Image blur
  3. Distortion of color perception
  4. Increased sensitivity to bright light

Diagnosis of zonular cataract is based on data from an ophthalmological examination using special methods such as biomicroscopy and ultrasound.

The main treatment method for zonular cataract is surgery - phacoemulsification with implantation of an intraocular lens. This allows you to restore the transparency of the lens and improve vision.
