Kayaput Bush

Myrtaceae - Myrtaceae. Pharmacy name: essential oil from leaves and branch tips: purified cayaput oil - Cajeputi aetheroleum rectificatum (formerly: Oleum Cajeputi rectificatum).

Botanical description.

An evergreen shrub or small tree with easily detachable bark and sickle-shaped leaves. Grows in the Malay Islands, Australia, the Philippines and Java. Active ingredient: kayaput oil (close to eucalyptus), which contains up to 70% sineol.

External use - in ointments and rubs for colds, but compared to eucalyptus oil it is used less often. Sometimes included in rubs for rheumatic diseases.
