Keratoconjunctivitis Tuberculosis-Allergic

Tuberculous-allergic keratoconjunctivitis (k. tuberculosa allergica; synonym: k. scrofulous, k. phlyctenulous) is an inflammation of the cornea and conjunctiva caused by increased sensitivity to tuberculosis infection.

The disease occurs mainly in children and adolescents with reduced immunity. It is characterized by the appearance of small infiltrates on the cornea, reminiscent of conflicts. It is characterized by itching, lacrimation, and photophobia. May lead to decreased vision.

Treatment includes local use of glucocorticosteroids, antihistamines and antibacterial drugs. It is important to eliminate the source of tuberculosis infection. The prognosis with timely treatment is favorable.
