Keratomalacia

Keratomalacia (keratomalacia) is a disease in which softening and disintegration of the cornea occurs. Keratomalacia can be caused by various factors such as poor nutrition, infection, injury or prolonged use of contact lenses.

Symptoms of keratomalacia may include a foreign body sensation in the eye, watery eyes, redness of the eye, and decreased vision. If left untreated, keratomalacia can lead to complete loss of vision.

Treatment for keratomalacia usually includes topical antibiotics and corticosteroids, as well as replacement of contact lenses with glasses or contact lenses. Diet changes may also be necessary to improve the nutrition of the cornea.

Keratomalacia is a serious condition that can lead to vision loss if not treated promptly. Therefore, it is important to monitor your health and consult a doctor if you experience any symptoms associated with keratomalacia.
