They can occur in various diseases and conditions, such as peripheral nerve damage, parkinsonism, myasthenia gravis. There are benign clonic seizures, which occur after injury or infection, and clonic spastic paralysis, a rare condition observed in young people with progressive mental disorders. To make a diagnosis, video EEG monitoring and a test with GABA receptor agonists or antagonists are required. Treatment for clonic seizures depends on the cause of their occurrence in the child.
