Coaxil

Coaxil: Antidepressant for the treatment of depression and depressive conditions

Coaxil (international name Tianeptine) is an antidepressant used to treat various types of depression and depressive conditions. It belongs to the class of non-selective neuronal uptake inhibitors. Coaxil is produced in France by Servier Laboratories and Servier Industry Laboratories, as well as in Russia by the Moscow Pharmaceutical Factory.

Coaxil is available in the dosage form of film-coated tablets containing 12.5 mg of the active substance - tianeptine. It acts on neuronal mechanisms associated with the development of depression and helps restore the balance of certain neurotransmitters such as serotonin.

Indications for the use of Coaxil include depression and depressive states of any etiology, including neurotic and reactive depression, anxiety-depressive states with somatic complaints, as well as alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

However, Coaxil also has some contraindications. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or for children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Like any other medicine, Coaxil may cause some side effects. These may include dizziness, headache, insomnia or drowsiness, decreased reaction speed, tachycardia, angina, extrasystole, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, flatulence, feeling of heat, laryngeal spasm and difficulty breathing. If you experience any side effects while taking Coaxil, it is important to tell your doctor.

It is also worth noting that Coaxil may interact with MAO inhibitors (monoamine oxidase), so the simultaneous use of these drugs should be avoided to avoid possible serious complications.

In case of an overdose of Coaxil, there is no reliable information, however, if symptoms of an overdose occur, you should seek medical help.

It is important to note that when taking Coaxil before surgery under anesthesia, you should stop using it 24-28 hours in advance. At the end of treatment with Coaxil, it is recommended to gradually (over 7-14 days) reduce the dosage. When engaging in vigorous activities that require increased attention and quick reactions, you should be careful, as Coaxil can cause drowsiness and decreased concentration.

It is important to emphasize that I am providing general information only and is not a substitute for consultation with a medical professional. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression or are considering using Coaxil, it is recommended that you consult a doctor who can evaluate your condition, make a diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.
