Cocci- (Sossu-), Coccyg-, Coccygo- is a prefix in anatomical and medical terms that indicates the relationship to the coccyx (lat. os coccygis).

The coccyx is the last bone of the spine, located at the bottom of the spine.

The prefix Coccy- is used to denote structures related to the coccyx, operations on this area and diseases of the coccyx.

For example:

  1. Coccydynia - pain in the coccyx area.

  2. Coccygectomy is a surgical operation to remove the tailbone.

  3. Coccygitis is inflammation of the coccygeal joints.

  4. Coccygorrhagia is a rupture of the coccyx.

Thus, the prefix Cocci- (Sossu-) is used in medical terminology to denote the connection with the anatomical structure of the coccyx and the processes occurring in this area.

Coccygioplasty, or as it is also called excision (plastic surgery) of the coccyx, is a surgical procedure for the treatment of partial or complete rectal (coccygeal) obstruction. To be more precise (and taking into account Sossu’s word), coccyx plastic surgery is such a thing when a person loses this very coccyx. And in order not to lose, you can go to some clinic and they will do everything there without any problems. Removal or plastic surgery is one of the most difficult operations in modern proctology; however, the number of its positive results in Western Europe and the USA is constantly growing. However, this operation is not recommended for older people with degenerative changes in bones and joints (especially in the pelvic area) and those who are no longer in the first years of their life.
