Cordiamine: analeptic circulatory support

Cordiamine is an analeptic that is used to support blood circulation. The active substance of the drug is niketamide. Cordiamin is produced in Russia by several pharmaceutical companies, including ICN October, ICN Polypharm, Belvitamin, Biosynthesis, Biokhimik, Bryntsalov-A, Vector, Vector-Pharm, Veropharm/Belgorod Branch, Voronezh-Vremya Pharm Manufacturing Company and Dalkhimpharm.

Cordiamine is available in several dosage forms, including injection solution and oral drops. The injection solution contains 25% niketamide. The drug is used to treat acute and chronic circulatory disorders, decreased vascular tone and weakened breathing in patients with infectious diseases, as well as in those recovering. It can also be used for acute collapse, asphyxia, shock conditions that occur during surgical interventions and in the postoperative period, as well as for asphyxia of newborns.

The use of Cordiamine may be contraindicated in patients predisposed to seizures. Side effects of the drug are not described, and there is no information about interactions with other drugs or cases of overdose.

Subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of Cordiamine can be painful, so sometimes novocaine is injected into the injection site before injection to reduce pain.
