The Magic Clay face scrub mask gently exfoliates, removes dead cells from the surface of the skin and tightens pores. Its formula, enriched with three natural clays and red algae extract, has pronounced smoothing properties. Small scrubbing particles ensure gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells and lightening of blackheads. 1. Kaolin - clay, saturated with silicates, effectively absorbs dirt and fights oily shine. 2. Ghassoul clay, rich in microelements, restores a fresh and healthy complexion. 3. Montmorillonite - clay, which contains useful minerals, specifically fights skin imperfections. Directions for use: Apply a thin layer to damp facial skin 3 times a week, avoiding the eye area and lip contours. Leave the mask on your face for 5-10 minutes, rinse with warm water. Then apply Moisturizing Expert cream to give the skin greater comfort. Designed for 10 applications.

What is the difference between the three L’Oreal Paris “Magic of Clay” masks – “Cleansing and Mattifying”, “Detoxing and Radiance” and “Exfoliating and Tightening Pores”? Yana Z. and Olya are sorting it out.
Multimasking is gaining momentum, so we always have something to do :) We recently reviewed three new Vichy masks, and before that, four from The Body Shop. Now we’re trying L’Oreal Paris masks—by the way, nominated for “Product of the Year” at this year’s Pudra Blogger Awards—and trying to understand how they differ from each other.

krasnaya-glina-loreal-otzyvy-HfKYFw.webp

All masks of the “Magic of Clay” line are made, as you might guess, based on clay and are intended for the same thing - deep cleansing.

All three masks contain three types of clay:

  1. kaolin, which reduces shine;
  2. gassoul, which cleanses, and gently - suitable for sensitive skin;
  3. montmorillonite, which is rich in vitamins and microelements.

In fact, the compositions differ only in the additional active ingredient. In the “Cleansing and Mattifying” mask it is eucalyptus, in the “Detox and Radiance” mask it is charcoal, in the “Exfoliating and Pores Tightening” mask it is seaweed.

And now, attention, the question: why produce three masks if matting, exfoliation and narrowing of pores can be achieved with one, after which the notorious “glow” will probably appear (where will it go if the dead cells are exfoliated and the pores are narrowed?%). and science still doesn’t really know what “detox” is :) And neither do we.

At the first glance at the masks, at least one reason why there are three of them becomes obvious. They are multi-colored :) So, we can assume that only the laziest beauty blogger would not post a photo like this on Instagram.

And if all bloggers post at least one photo, consider the launch a success. I (Yana Z.) was in Paris at the presentation of these masks in winter, and already appreciated their photogenicity. These masks then photographed everything. (Me too:). Well, of course, I also appreciated the packaging: good-quality glass jars with rounded, pleasant edges. You pick it up and you’re holding a luxury item.

In general, photogenicity and Instagrammability are, of course, compelling arguments. But I still wonder if there are others?

Olya (combination skin, prone to oiliness, thick): “The mask looks so innocent: soft green, delicately scented - lovely! And it feels like the most thermonuclear of the three. It tightens and irritates the skin the most, it is difficult to wash off, and the effect is weak, and, in my opinion, not worth all this torment. Dislike!

Yana Z. (normal skin, prone to whims): “Two critically important points that for some reason no one takes into account. This mask is truly the most active. If you have dry and/or irritated skin (or on constantly dry areas like cheekbones), you should not use it at all. But it doesn’t seem to be stated on the jar, and neither is it on the official website. Girls need some kind of non-girlish ingenuity to understand this. And for oily skin, the mask works great. But it’s also better not to apply it all over your face. I found this out almost by accident. On certain days of my cycle, my skin in the T-zone becomes shiny, like a teenager’s - and when I applied the mask to my forehead and nose, the effect was obvious and downright excellent. And nothing tightened enough to scream “oh-oh-oh” - however, in this local zone, in general, it seems that it can’t tighten like that. So, given the price, you can keep this mask in your wardrobe in case of “Children, our mother is 17 again, just believe me, and you will understand later.”

Olya: “Neutral mask. It has a moderate pull, cleans about the same, and does not cause irritation. Problems begin when trying to wash it off. It eats into the skin, stains everything around and is difficult to wash off with rags and napkins. So if you suddenly wanted to wash it off with something reusable, like a Glov mitt... don’t!”

krasnaya-glina-loreal-otzyvy-rgGmMtb.webp

Yana: “There is another danger here, which few people note either. This mask is suitable for normal and perhaps dry skin. And it works well: for example, it really tightens the pores, and this makes the face look fresher and more youthful. But you only need to remove it with a sponge. Otherwise, you will have to crawl over your face with a cloth or your hands so many times that there is a danger of tearing off the entire lipid layer :) And then you will urgently need an active-moisturizing serum, an active-moisturizing cream and another mask - fatty-lipid-restoring. #darlingit's a vicious circle"

Olya: “This mask can also be used as a scrub - you can feel small exfoliating particles in it. It is very gentle and does not tighten the skin. There are no unpleasant sensations. Cleanses perfectly and improves complexion. And it smells the most pleasant. My favorite mask of the three."

Yana: “The particles are felt, but do not prick or scratch. You can apply and wash off immediately - you get a classic peeling. You can apply and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse off - you get peeling + care. It evens out the complexion quite well. Those masks that are taller tighten pores better, but otherwise it’s a good thing and, in general, universal. If there are no special problems, then this is the one you should take from this trio. And maybe that’s what should have been released, alone. True, this would greatly reduce the number of selfies :)"

Have you tried these masks? And in general, how do you feel about masks with clay?

I am sincerely happy for those for whom this powdery crap from the pharmacy is suitable, but not for me, after it you still need to be treated with expensive means. This mask was surprisingly suitable, I took the green one for cleansing, in Rive Gaucher it seemed like only 400 rubles or even a few kopecks. In general, I liked this mask, it really doesn’t dry out and cleanses the skin very well, it’s light on its own, every flaw is visible, and so after the mask the skin is uniformly light. I used to use luxury and pharmacy, but times have come that I switched to mas. To sum it up, I didn’t even expect such a good effect, but at the same time, if I weren’t lazy)|(I would have bought essential masks, mixed them with clay, found what suited me and smeared it on my face

I really can’t understand why clay powder costs 20 rubles, and the same clay, but diluted, costs about 1000 or more. Although I don’t argue that the difference is noticeable, already diluted masks are of course more delicate. I myself once bought Sanflor from white clay (cost 800 rubles), now I switched to blue from Grandma Agafya or whatever her name was, 35 rubles.

but loreal-clay-500r somehow doesn’t add up. The price needs to be brought down.

In addition to clay, these masks contain a bunch of other excipients that improve the effect of the product - I tried all 3 on different parts of the face, the effect was simply amazing. Does not compare with the effect of pharmaceutical products.

not just clay, but a rare miracle that “is mined only in one deposit in the whole world - near the Atlas Mountains in the Mouluya Valley, near the Moroccan city of Fez”))) I wonder if these places even exist?

Clay is sold to you for 20 rubles in a pharmacy, but the formula of a cosmetic product needs to be created and patented, studies conducted for effectiveness, and brought to Russia - this also costs money

Of course, I can’t say anything about the mass market, but for me, good clay cosmetics are many times better than a regular mask from a pharmacy. In addition to the clay itself, it contains many other elements, it is balanced and does not cause such terrible dryness as clay powder diluted with water. Of course, it’s different for everyone, I don’t argue) I simultaneously had a Lancom mask with white clay and actually white clay from the pharmacy. Heaven and earth.
