“Shinies!” - a child would say to all of the above. In the old fashioned way, sellers call them sparkles, too. Meanwhile, each shining texture has a name and purpose:

1. Shimmer is a means to add radiance, usually applied to the eyelids and cheekbones to make the face more sculpted;
2. Highlighter – a pencil or stick for highlighting certain features. Not necessarily brilliant, by the way;
3. Glitter - both shadows or blush with shiny components and reflective particles, and particles separately.

Glitters are divided by type of texture:

1. Cream – smaller reflective particles allow you to create a more natural glow, without “sparks” and “flashes” of light. Suitable for daytime makeup, helping to highlight certain details. Disadvantage: they are too dense and form a thick layer on the skin. Many girls can only use glitter in winter or early spring; in summer it does not allow the skin to breathe and leads to minor cosmetic problems. But the big advantage of cream glitters is that a beginner can hardly go wrong with them. Such shadows and blushes are easy to shade and look quite natural, without requiring drawing skills when applying makeup.
2. Dry. It is applied to eye shadow or makeup base. There are also glitters with special bases included. A brush is required to paint. The process is most reminiscent of working with regular shadows; it is quite simple.
3. Water or gel based. These are popular glitters, despite their similarity - they are different. Water-based glitters require some skill and ability to handle classic eyeliner. Without this, they risk turning out to be just a smeared blot on your eyelids. But gel ones are very democratic. They fit well, shine beautifully, and do not require special skills.

How to use sparkling elements in makeup correctly

Sparkling eyes or lips? Or some other accent that will make the face sculptural? Makeup artists advise maintaining moderation in makeup and using glitter as an accent.

When it comes to eyelid makeup, we must first:

1. Apply your usual eye gel or cream on top of which you apply makeup;
2. Use a matte base shadow or a base stick to add color to your eyelids;
3. Add accents with glitter.

The glitter is applied with light movements; you don’t need to rub it as hard as you can into the base.

Many people cannot purchase a special foundation for eye makeup or choose shadows. Then a simple loose powder will help. It should be applied with a wide brush both on the upper eyelid and under it to provide coverage over which the glitter can be spread. The lower eyelid can also be powdered with colorless powder, this will make it easier to remove excess glitter and contour the makeup.

How to choose glitter shades:

1. Golden shades are suitable for makeup in warm natural tones, chestnut or dark brown hair.
2. Cooler pinks and fuchsias require silver glitter.
3. In clothing, you should avoid shining accents so that the image is not too theatrical. If glitter is applied carelessly, you should immediately remove it with a cotton swab to avoid sticking to the skin.

How to highlight eyelids using glitter: examples

This immediately suggests advice about luminous arrows. But this is only permissible in theatrical or evening makeup. Most makeup artists vote that instead of drawing luminous arrows, we place a small emphasis on the most convex part of the upper eyelid, right in the middle of the eyeball. The accent needs to be shaded to make it look natural. Ideally, only one accent on the eyelid is allowed.

This was an option for beginners, but for more advanced glitter users there is the opportunity to line the eyelid line and shade it further. Some makeup artists advise abandoning shading altogether in order to get a clear outline of the arrow.

How to draw an arrow with glitter:

1. Clean the skin and absorb any excess sebum with a tissue;
2. Use an eyeliner and primer to outline the wings;
3. Put a little glitter on the brush and walk it along the line of the arrow, without going further;
4. Blend the edges a little with a cotton swab if necessary.

Makeup with arrows cannot be called everyday. It is intended for going out and can come in handy where the usual options seem too everyday.

Glitter can be easily removed with any makeup product, but you should use cotton pads or sponges to prevent parts of the glowing particles from getting into your eyes.

Makeup master class with glitter

In this master class we will create a beautiful evening makeup that will definitely attract the attention of people around you. It is made in a classic brown color scheme, but the brown shade can always be replaced with some other color.

Cover the entire face and eyelid skin with foundation. The foundation will serve as a base for the shadows. It is better to draw a clear graphic eyebrow for a complete look.

Apply brown shadows to the shaded arrow along the upper eyelid. We do not bring it slightly to the inner corner of the eye. In this case, it is better to hold the brush in a reclining position, directing movements towards the head of the eyebrow.

We move the shading from the outer corner to the tail of the eyebrow. We completely fill the upper fold with brown and connect it with the tail of the shaded arrow. At this stage you need to be extremely careful. If you have close-set eyes, you cannot move the shading in the crease further than the pupil. This may make the situation worse. This recommendation is also suitable for round eyes, which need to be drawn out using shading directed towards the temple. For shading, use fluffy brushes, which will allow you to complete your makeup faster and with better quality.

Now we are working quite quickly. Cover the moving eyelid with foundation. We draw a clear outline and try to do this with the head raised, so that the foundation does not imprint on the upper eyelid when blinking.

Cover the entire foundation area with dry matte shadows to match your skin tone. We do not go beyond the contour, leaving it clear and shading the shadows with a brown arrow.

Let's complement this makeup with a glamorous winged eyeliner. We draw its ponytail from the outer corner of the eye. We immediately set the thickness by drawing the outline. Please note that all lines are directed towards the temple and the end of the eyebrow. Only in this case can you correctly adjust the eyelid, which is what is required from makeup.

We draw an arrow line along the entire movable eyelid. We set the width that can be applied to your eyelid. If the eyelid is drooping, then it is better to refrain from wide arrows.

We intensively line the lower eyelid with brown eye shadow.

Now you can complement the arrow with chic and shine. While the eyeliner has not dried completely, apply glitter along the entire width of the arrow. Apply with a small brush so as not to go beyond the contour.

Apply eyelashes and your evening makeup is ready. For added drama, you can add eyelashes. Red or burgundy lipstick is perfect for this type of makeup.

Glittery makeup is the trend this summer. Like any other complex options, it requires practice. Start with simpler “materials” and highlighting only part of the upper eyelid and move on to the arrows gradually when you get the hang of it. Shiny makeup can perfectly replace excess jewelry and other accents of the image. Stylists do not recommend doing a complex hairstyle. Usually, smooth hair allows you to achieve the desired accent in your image, without looking like a runaway circus princess.

If you choose glitter for the eyes, it is better to avoid lip gloss. Matte lipstick in a natural shade, 1-2 shades darker than the lip color, is perfect for evening makeup. To make makeup with glitter you will need: loose glitter eyeshadow, matte eyeshadow, eyeshadow base, foundation, powder, lipstick, eyeliner, brushes.

1. To begin with, the face is covered with a foundation that matches the color, and the eyelids are covered with an eyeshadow base.
2. Next you need to apply matte shadows. Start from the inner corner of the eye and move towards the outer corner. Cover with base color.
3. Line with a pencil.
4. Now take the darkest shade of glitter eyeshadow and apply it to the outer corner of your eye. Then apply the lightest shade to the inner one. Cover the central part of the eyelid with a medium shade, carefully blending the borders of the transitions.
5. Cover your eyelashes with suitable mascara.
6. Powder your face.
7. Apply lipstick to your lips.

Mono-makeup using glitter shadows is very simple:

1. Foundation and eye shadow base are also applied.
2. Shiny shadows are carefully shaded throughout the entire eyelid.
