Labyrinthectomy

Labyrinthectomy is a surgical operation aimed at removing the peripheral part of the vestibular and auditory apparatus (labyrinth), where centers important for hearing are located. In most cases, a labyrinthectomy is used to remove a malignant tumor of the labyrinth called a meningioma. Treatment of hearing meningiomas includes several stages. Doctors first try to remove the tumor using an endoscope, a flexible tube that is inserted into the ear and can be seen on a monitor screen. If endoscopy
