Lead acetate is a synthetic antiperspirant, a derivative of lead acetate, which is used as an antimicrobial agent in cosmetics, for treating metal surfaces, cleaning laboratory instruments and equipment, and as a mordant for wood and other materials. Lead acetate is also used in some proprietary products to make lead paste and lead products such as pencils and inks. Such lead pencils are used to improve and consolidate concentration. They may also reduce the need for stimulant medications in a child or adult.
