Levomekol: application, composition and side effects

Levomekol is a combined antimicrobial agent that is used to treat purulent wounds infected with mixed flora in the first (purulent-necrotic) phase of the wound process. The dosage form of Levomekol is an ointment. It contains two active ingredients: chloramphenicol and methyluracil.

Manufacturers of Levomekol are Akrikhin KhFK, Vertex, Nizhpharm and Samara Pharmaceutical Factory, all of them are located in Russia. The international name of the drug is Chloramphenicol + Methyluracil, and the synonym is Levomethyl.

When using Levomekol, contraindications should be taken into account. The drug should not be used in case of increased individual sensitivity to chloramphenicol. It is also possible to develop allergic reactions (skin rashes) when using the ointment. In these cases, the use of Levomekol should be stopped and consult a doctor.
