Levopront

Levopront: an effective non-narcotic antitussive agent

Levopront is a non-narcotic antitussive drug produced in Germany by Heinrich Mac Heir. Its active substance, levodopropizine, has properties that help reduce dry, nonproductive cough in various respiratory diseases.

Levopront is available in two dosage forms: as a syrup containing 0.6% active substance and as oral drops. This allows you to choose the most convenient form of application depending on the patient’s preferences.

The drug Levopront is effective in the treatment of dry non-productive cough, which can accompany pharyngitis, laryngitis, acute tracheitis and tracheobronchitis, influenza, bronchopneumonia, chronic obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema, lung tumors, allergic and infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.

However, there are certain contraindications and limitations to the use of Levopront. It is not recommended to use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to its components, excessive sputum production, decreased mucociliary function, severe liver dysfunction, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. There are also restrictions on use in children under 2 years of age and in patients with severe renal failure.

When using Levopront, some side effects are possible, including headache, dizziness, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, fatigue, fainting, numbness, as well as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, gastric discomfort, diarrhea, tachycardia and allergic reactions. The interaction of Levopront with other drugs has not yet been studied, so you need to be careful when taking sedatives at the same time.

In case of an overdose of Levopront, tachycardia may occur. Treatment of overdose includes gastric lavage, the use of activated charcoal, parenteral fluid administration and other symptomatic measures.

When using Levopront, caution should be exercised in patients with hypersensitivity, especially when taking sedatives simultaneously. It is also recommended to be careful when driving or performing tasks that require increased concentration, as Levopront may cause drowsiness and dizziness.

It is important to consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting Levopront for individual dosage and use recommendations, especially if you have any existing medical conditions or medications.
