Ligament Sphenocuboid Plantar.
The plantar cuneocuboid ligament (lat. ligamentum cuneocuboideum plantare) is a short and flat ligament of the foot that connects the sphenoid and cuboid bones.
This ligament is located on the plantar surface of the foot. It starts from the anterior edge of the base of the sphenoid bone and is directed obliquely anteriorly and laterally, attaching to the tuberosity of the cuboid bone.
The sphenocuboid plantar ligament strengthens the joint between the sphenoid and cuboid bones. It prevents these bones from diverging excessively when loaded. This ligament also limits adduction of the tarsus and holds the transverse arch of the foot.
