Serous lymphadenitis is an inflammatory lesion of the parotid lymph nodes and tissue in mumps, epidemic encephalitis and other infectious diseases.
The serous stage of lymphadenitis proceeds more favorably than the purulent stage and is characterized by: enlargement of the lymph nodes to the size of a pea or more, absence of pain.
Serous fever is an infectious disease caused by viruses of the EBV group. Young people aged 2 to 6 months are most often affected. Symptoms of serous fever: general intoxication (weakness, headache, lack of appetite), muscle and bone pain, sometimes severe catarrhal symptoms (runny nose, cough, sore throat). In severe forms of the disease, meningoencephalitis may develop. Inflammation is usually localized in regional lymph nodes, often in the cervical, sometimes in the internal and subclavian lymph nodes. Later, damage to the diaphragm and pleura is detected. The conjunctiva is dry, the shine of the eyeballs is absent. Acute serous-leukocytic meningitis is characterized by tension in the brain capsule, it is painful on palpation, the membranes are thickened, the anterior horns are enlarged
