Tropical yellow lichen (lichen planus, dermatophytosis) is a fungal skin disease caused by the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. rubrum or T. equinum. This disease occurs in humans and pets.
Infection can occur through the skin if there are flakes of keratinized epidermis on it. A predisposing factor to infection is decreased immunity.
The main symptoms of lichen are:
- Redness in the form of spots that rise above the skin; - Swelling; - Burst bubbles at the spots; - Possible peeling.
Treatment in most cases is not required, since the disease resolves itself without treatment in two weeks to a month. Treatment includes hygiene and care products containing nitrofungin and miconazole. Treatment may be needed if:
- The rash is bright and abundant, - The skin structures are cracked; - If the disease is severe, the doctor decides on antibiotics.
