Composition: Active substance - Glimepiride.

Indications for use: Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type II.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type I), diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic precoma and coma, liver and kidney failure, cachexia, pregnancy, breastfeeding. Restrictions on use: Children (the safety and effectiveness of its use in children have not been determined).

Side effect:

  1. From the cardiovascular system and blood: low blood pressure, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, erythropenia, pancytopenia, hemolytic and aplastic anemia.

  2. From the nervous system: dizziness, headache, transient visual impairment.

  3. From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, intrahepatic cholestasis.

  4. Other: hypoglycemia, increased transaminase levels, hyponatremia, allergic skin reactions, asthenia, shortness of breath, hepatitis, allergic vasculitis, photosensitivity.

Interaction:

Hypoglycemia is enhanced by NSAIDs, MAO inhibitors, insulin, beta blockers, miconazole, ACE inhibitors, etc. The effect is weakened by thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, oral contraceptives, phenytoin, sympathomimetics, barbiturates, laxatives, etc.

Overdose:

Symptoms: hypoglycemia, coma. Treatment: intravenous administration of glucose, monitoring of vital functions.

Special instructions:

Begin treatment after unsuccessful attempts to normalize glucose levels through diet and exercise. Regular monitoring of glucose levels is required. Prescribe with caution to drivers and people whose profession requires increased attention.
