Livarol

Livarol: an effective antifungal agent produced in Russia

Livarol is an antifungal drug produced in Russia. It belongs to the pharmacological group of imidazole and triazole derivatives, which are successfully used to combat fungal infections. The main active substance in Livarol is ketoconazole, which is also known by the international name "Ketoconazole". The drug is produced by various manufacturers, including the Nizhpharm company in Russia.

Livarol has a wide spectrum of action and is used to treat various fungal infections. It is effective against mycoses of the skin, hair and nails caused by dermatophytes and/or yeasts, such as dermatophytosis, onychomycosis, candidal paronychia, pityriasis versicolor, folliculitis and trichophytosis. Livarol is also used for gastrointestinal mycosis, eye mycosis, systemic mycosis (candidiasis, paracocyciamicosis, histoplasmosis, coccydomycosis, blastomycosis), skin leishmaniosis, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, fungal sepsis, vaginal candidiasis and mycosis in patients with immunodeficiency as a prevention.

However, before using Livarol, contraindications must be taken into account. The drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to its components, as well as in acute liver diseases, pregnancy and lactation. You should also limit its use in cases of decreased function of the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland, as well as in the presence of severe renal and liver failure.

Like any medicine, Livarol may cause side effects. Some of them include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, toxic hepatitis, transient increase in blood transaminase levels, photophobia, gynecomastia, decreased libido, oligospermia and allergic reactions such as urticaria, pruritus, arthralgia , paresthesia and hyperthermia.

You should also pay attention to the interactions of Livarol with other drugs. For example, it is incompatible with terfenadine, astemizole and alcohol. Livarol weakens the effect of amphotericin B and reduces the concentration of rifampicin and isoniazid in the blood.

To use Livarol, you should follow the instructions and dosage prescribed by your doctor or indicated on the package. The drug is usually applied to the affected areas of the skin or nails in a thin layer and rubbed in with massaging movements until completely absorbed. The duration of treatment and frequency of use may vary depending on the type and severity of the fungal infection. It is important to continue treatment for the recommended period of time, even if symptoms have disappeared, to prevent relapses.

It is important to note that this information about Livarol is based on my knowledge prior to September 2021.
