Lozap Plus

Lozap Plus: an effective combination drug for the treatment of arterial hypertension

Lozap Plus is a combination drug developed for the treatment of arterial hypertension. It combines two active ingredients: losartan potassium and hydrochlorothiazide. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that helps relax and dilate blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, in turn, is a diuretic that helps remove excess fluid from the body through the urinary system.

Lozap Plus is produced by the pharmaceutical company Zentiva a.s. in the Czech Republic. This drug is widely known by its international name "Losartan + Hydrochlorothiazide" and also has the synonym "Gizaar". The dosage form of Lozap Plus is represented by a shell of coated tablets containing 50 mg of losartan and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide.

Lozap Plus is used for the treatment of arterial hypertension in patients in whom combination therapy is the optimal choice. It helps lower blood pressure and control it at a stable level.

Like any other medical drug, Lozap Plus has some contraindications. It is not recommended for anuria (lack of urination), severe arterial hypotension (low blood pressure), severe liver and kidney dysfunction, hypovolemia (including a state of fluid deficiency with high doses of diuretics), pregnancy, lactation, as well as in children and adolescents up to 18 years. You should also avoid using Lozap Plus if you are hypersensitive to its components.

Some side effects may occur when using Lozap Plus. From the central nervous system, dizziness is often observed. Allergic reactions such as urticaria and angioedema, including swelling of the face, lips, pharynx, tongue and larynx, are possible. In some cases, vasculitis and Henoch-Schönlein disease may occur. From the cardiovascular system, arterial hypotension may occur. Rarely, side effects from the digestive system may occur, such as diarrhea, hepatitis and increased levels of liver enzymes.

It is important to consult your doctor before starting to take Lozap Plus or any other medicine. Only a qualified healthcare professional can evaluate indications for use, determine dosage, and consider possible risks and side effects.
