Hole Elevations

**Alunate eminence** is one of the paired human odontoid processes. Right and left L. v. symmetrical, located on the lateral sides of the dental alveolar arch, at the level of its heads. Ligaments are attached to them, the fibers of which diverge in different directions, forming the masticatory muscles (including the broad and internal muscles, the pterygoid muscle). At the top, the left wings, dividing, serve as a continuation of the outer and inner pterygoid bones and their elevations, respectively; downwards they pass into the coronary elevations, anteriorly into the neck of the jaw and the alveolar part; below they are thickened, especially on the right, and end with a bone sole, flattened but rounded. Each PV has pits: tooth-like at the bottom and articular at the top, which correspond to the premaxillary joint.
