Mastoiditis Traumatic

Mastoiditis is a purulent inflammation of the bony labyrinth of the mastoid process, which can be caused by infection. Both adults and children can suffer from mastoiditis. Mastoid abscess, complicating untreated runny nose or otitis media.

Mastoiditis currently accounts for 4.4% of the total number of medical operations performed in otorhinolaryngological clinics. Up to 95% of cases of acute and chronic purulent process in the bony labyrinth of the mastoid part of the skull lead to mastoid complications in the form of sclerosing and epitympanum conditions. Complications of the purulent form can be of various types: from disruption of intra-auricular bone structures and the development of cholesteatoma to dysfunction of the dura mater. With long-term treatment, the hemianal or vestibular epitympanium mass may penetrate into the tympanic cavity, leading to a pronounced adhesive process. The cavity of the mastoid part of the skull undergoes anatomical changes, mainly associated with the disruption of its fornical membrane with a subordination of its anatomical structure.
