Matrix Band

Matrix band is a flexible strip of metal or plastic containing filling material for a prepared cavity. It is used in dentistry to restore the anatomical shape of a tooth during filling.

The matrix tightly covers the tooth and is fixed using a special holder or wedge. This allows you to give the filling the correct shape and prevent the filling material from flowing out of the cavity.

Matrices are made of metal (stainless steel) and plastic. Metal matrices are more rigid and make it possible to better recreate the anatomical shape of the tooth. Plastic matrices are more flexible, easier to model and adapt to a specific tooth.

The use of matrices allows the dentist to qualitatively restore the tooth and avoid subsequent chipping of the filling or the formation of gaps between the filling and the tooth. Thus, matrices are an important tool when performing dental fillings.

Matrix is a flexible strip of metal or plastic that is used to secure a filling in a prepared tooth cavity. It can be used both as an independent method of fixing a filling, and in combination with other methods.

The matrix can be made of various materials such as metal, plastic or composite materials. It has a strip shape that allows it to fit tightly to the surface of the tooth and hold the filling in place.

Before installing the matrix, the tooth cavity must be prepared. This includes cleaning the surface of the tooth from food debris and plaque, as well as removing damaged tissue. Once the cavity is prepared, the matrix is placed around the tooth and secured in place using a special adhesive.

The use of a matrix allows you to increase the strength of fixation of the filling and reduce the risk of its displacement or loss. In addition, it can be used to protect the tooth from damage caused by the placement of a filling.

In general, the matrix is an important tool for ensuring high-quality fixation of the filling on the tooth. It allows you to improve the treatment result and extend the service life of the filling.

The matrix for the crown is one of the important links in dental prosthetics. In modern dentistry, any other dental material is used only a few times (filling, canal filling, fillings), while the matrix can be reused many times. For this purpose, special matrices made of special metal and plastic with a special cavity intended for the crown are used. They use the optimal properties of these materials, they are lightweight, easy to bend and can replace an existing crown very quickly and easily.

The Matrix flexible strip is an elastic strip of plastic or metal that is located in the center of the future dental crown. It is in it that dental materials (fillings, composite materials, etc.) are placed, which are applied to the patient’s teeth and temporarily fixed on the tooth. The Matrix is typically made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), silicone, or polyurethane, depending on dentist and patient preference. The main advantage of the light elasticity and flexibility of the Matrix material is the possibility of conveniently gluing it to a tooth, including with strongly curved roots, so that they do not interfere with the application of dental material, and at the same time create a strong attachment of the matrix for their subsequent replacement .

Despite their flexibility, the matrices can be securely attached to the tooth, since they are made of durable materials with a smooth surface, which allows them not to be damaged during cementation and allows them to serve for a long time, as mentioned above. The shape of the matrix strip also contributes to this - it has smooth, beveled edges and an inclination angle of about 45 degrees, thus creating a unique encircling bandage,
