Mechnikova Macrophage

Mechnikov Macrophage is a special type of white blood cell that plays an important role in the body’s immune system. It was discovered by Russian scientist Ilya Mechnikov at the beginning of the 20th century and named after him.

Macrophages are cells that are capable of capturing and digesting foreign particles such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microorganisms. They also play a role in destroying old and damaged cells.

One of the most famous types of macrophages is liver macrophages. They help cleanse the liver of toxins and other harmful substances, and also participate in the process of bile formation.

In addition, macrophages are important participants in the inflammatory process. They secrete special proteins that help regulate inflammation and wound healing.

However, despite their importance, macrophages can cause problems in the body. For example, in some diseases they can become too active and begin to destroy the body's own cells, which can lead to various diseases.

In general, Mechnikov macrophages play an important role in maintaining the health of the immune system and protecting the body from various infections and diseases.
