Melanoma Juvenile

Juvenile melanoma is a rare skin tumor that appears primarily in children under 1 year of age.

In Russia, melanoma in children occurs in 3% of cases. Despite the rarity and relative benign nature of the tumor, it can lead to serious complications, even fatal. Juvenile melanosis is described as a single café-au-lait or light brown patch with jagged edges. After some time, there is an intense increase in the size of the pigment tumor. The tumor becomes dense and rises noticeably above the surrounding tissues. When trying to remove spots, the edges of the hair follicles are severely injured, which leads to the formation of scars. Small scales are often visible on the surface of new growths. Some patients notice that the formation becomes denser.

The main cause of melanoma is considered to be genetic disorders, namely a mutation in the CDKN2A gene, which is responsible for stopping cell division and preventing the development of malignant tumors
