Meningitis is a dangerous infectious disease that affects the soft tissue of the brain and other organs. Unfortunately, basal meningitis is one of the most severe forms of this disease.
Basal meningitis is known as “acute basal meningoencephalitis,” which means the infection spreads quickly and aggressively. Basal meningitis involves several clinical features, including rapid onset, high levels of brain damage, the onset of nervous system-related symptoms, and the development of coagulative septic complications such as meningeal neuropathies and blood infections. Symptoms of basal meningitis include confusion, seizures, disturbances of consciousness, high temperatures and decreased reactivity.
Various treatments are used to combat these symptoms, including antibiotics, glucocorticoids and immunotherapy. If the disease is severe, surgery may be required to drain brain fluid and remove infected tissue.
