Metastasis

Metastasis is the process of spread of tumor cells from the primary site to distant organs and tissues with the formation of secondary sites - metastases.

Metastasis can occur in three main ways:

  1. Hematogenously - through the bloodstream. Tumor cells enter the bloodstream, circulate in it and form metastases in various organs. This path is typical for sarcomas.

  2. Lymphogenous route - through lymphatic vessels. Spread occurs through regional lymph nodes to distant lymph nodes. Typical for carcinomas.

  3. By implantation - by introducing tumor cells into body cavities (abdominal, pleural, etc.), followed by engraftment on the walls of the cavities and the formation of metastases.

High-grade tumors have a greater ability to metastasize. The spread of metastases in the body can occur in one or all of the above ways.

Metastatic - related to metastases, caused by metastasis.

Metastasis is the process of the appearance of neoplasms in tissues and organs remote from the primary focus of a malignant neoplasm. The spread of metastases can occur in different ways, such as through the circulatory system, lymphatic system or through body cavities. High-grade tumors are more likely to develop metastases than less aggressive tumors. The metastatic process can occur either through one pathway or through several pathways simultaneously. However, it is believed that carcinomas usually metastasize through the lymphatic system, while sarcomas metastasize through the circulatory system.

Metastasis is the process of cancer cells spreading from the primary tumor to other parts of the body. This can happen in three ways: through the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, or through body cavities.

High-grade tumors generally have a higher likelihood of metastasizing than low-grade tumors. However, tumors can spread through one or all three of these pathways. It is believed that carcinomas usually metastasize through the lymphatic system, while sarcomas - through the circulatory system.

The metastatic process can be very dangerous to human health. It can lead to the development of new tumors and deterioration in overall health. Treatment of metastatic tumors can be complex and requires a combination of different treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery.

It is important to remember that early diagnosis and treatment of primary tumors can reduce the risk of developing metastases and improve the patient's prognosis. Regular medical examinations and examinations can help detect possible signs of metastasis in the early stages.
