Teeth whitening methods in a medical facility

Modern dental clinics offer a large number of enamel whitening methods. The wide choice is due to the fact that a large number of people care about their appearance, the condition of their teeth, and the beauty of their smile. Snow-white teeth are very decorative; an attractive smile has already become an element of culture, a symbol of prosperity. For many, it is a professional requirement. It is the desire of people to look respectable and attractive that has pushed the modern dental industry to develop new areas of whitening.

Lightening techniques

To give tooth enamel a lighter shade, the following are used:

  1. microabrasion;
  2. bleaching with chemicals;
  3. veneers, crowns.

If your teeth are naturally very dark, you have to use two methods at once. For example, first go through microabrasion, then apply chemical bleaching. The modern one will most likely offer the most popular option - a method using a solution or gel of hydrogen peroxide.

You can whiten your teeth from the outside and from the inside. The last method is required for pulpless teeth - after removing the nerve, the enamel quickly turns black. For internal whitening, the impact on the tooth is carried out from the pulp chamber. It is filled with a paste mixture for 3-5 days. Then the final treatment or restoration is carried out.

External chemical whitening takes place in 1-3 visits. To speed up the action of peroxide, the doctor may use a laser. The oral cavity is carefully prepared for the procedure, the mucous membranes are protected from chemical components. A whitening gel is applied to the enamel and then halogen light is directed to create thermal radiation. Before whitening begins, the patient is photographed so that later he has something to compare with and make sure that the desired result is achieved. The mucous membrane and soft tissues of the mouth are isolated by applying polymers. Eyes are protected with glasses.

The whitening procedure itself is painless and tireless. Anesthesia is not used, since it is important for the doctor to see the patient’s reaction and focus on his sensations. The gel or lightening solution is applied with a brush or soaked gauze is applied. Many manufacturers produce a ready-made whitening mixture; the doctor can only squeeze it out of a syringe directly onto the tooth. There are compositions that have to be prepared by mixing several components and then applied with a brush or applicator.

After a few minutes, the gel will need to be washed off and reapplied. The entire whitening procedure takes about 40 minutes. After a few weeks, it can be repeated to lighten the enamel by another 1-2 tones.
