Yeast mycosis (candidiasis)
**Yeast mycosis** is an infectious disease of the skin and mucous membranes caused by yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida. This common condition affects both men and women and usually appears as white or yellow patches on the skin and mucous membranes of the lips, tongue, throat, vagina and reproductive system.
The causative agent of candidiasis is a fungus of the genus Candida - yeast. Typical clinical manifestations include lesions on the skin of the face, hands, and feet. Candidiasis causes damage to the skin and mucous membranes.
Candida (microscopic yeast fungi) settle on the skin when the skin is damaged (microtrauma), more often in weakened adolescents (with gastritis, colitis, hepatitis and other chronic diseases), and a weakened body. In such cases, sometimes inflammation in some layers of the skin is not even visible. Only with time can a white coating be detected (the hyphae of the fungus are visible). Even more often, candidiasis is accompanied by itching. Thrush, therefore, in some cases occurs without signs of skin inflammation, so its diagnosis is often difficult.
Depending on the location of the lesion, **candidiasis is divided into several types**: - Candidiasis of smooth skin - Intraepidermal candidiasis
