Myoglobinuria Paroxysmal

What is paroxysmal myoglobinuria?

Myoglobinuria or myoglobin "protusions" is an autoimmune process that may be associated with the use of intravenous drugs and other drugs like anabolic steroids. The cause of the disease is that myosin destroys its own membranes until myositis destroys the tissue and causes the development of glomerulonephritis (inflammation in the kidneys). This type of myositis is also known as myoglobinuric paroxysms - that is, these are temporary exacerbations of the main symptoms of the disease. Myositis usually affects skeletal and cardiac muscles. However, in this case, they are the cause of the accumulation of myoglobin in the blood.
