Monozinc

Monozinc: an effective antianginal agent

Monozinc, whose international name is isosorbide mononitrate, is a drug from the group of antianginal agents, including nitrates and nitrites. It is produced in Italy by the company Instituto Lusopharmaco and is used to treat various cardiovascular diseases.

Monozinc is presented in the form of tablets with a dosage of 40 mg. Its active substance is isosorbide mononitrate, which has the ability to dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow in the heart. This allows the drug to be used for angina pectoris (to prevent attacks), in the post-infarction period and for chronic heart failure in combination therapy.

However, before using Monozinc, it is necessary to take into account a number of contraindications. You should not take the drug in case of hypersensitivity to its components, acute myocardial infarction with reduced left ventricular filling pressure, cardiogenic shock, vascular collapse and severe arterial hypotension (with blood pressure less than 90 mmHg). In addition, the use of Monozinc is contraindicated in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, constrictive pericarditis, cardiac tamponade, cerebral hemorrhages, primary pulmonary hypertension, glaucoma, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.

When using Monozinc, side effects are possible, among which the most common are “nitrate” headache and hypotension (including orthostatic), accompanied by reflex tachycardia, lethargy, dizziness and weakness. Nausea, vomiting, erythema, methemoglobinemia and allergic reactions may also occur.

The interaction of Monozinc with other drugs should also be taken into account. Vasodilators, calcium antagonists, tricyclic antidepressants and alcohol may enhance its effect. Barbiturates, on the contrary, accelerate the biotransformation of isosorbide mononitrate and reduce its concentration in the blood.

In case of an overdose of Monozinc, adverse reactions may intensify. In such situations, monitoring of vital functions and symptomatic therapy are recommended.

When prescribing Monozinc to patients with glaucoma When prescribing Monozinc to patients with glaucoma, you need to be careful, as the drug can cause an increase in intraocular pressure.

Overall, Monozinc is an effective antianginal agent that helps improve blood flow to the heart and prevent angina attacks. However, its use should be carried out only as prescribed by a doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient and observing contraindications and warnings.
