Muscle Scalenus Anterior

Scalenus anterior muscle

The **scalenus anterior** muscle - **m.scalenus**, goes from the transverse processes of C5 to the spinous process of C7, from behind it approaches the lateral scalenus muscle, in front to the anterior scalenus muscle and the sternoclavicular joint. Function: turns the head, tilts it to the side and throws it back when turning the head (in this case, the head joint maintains its position; which prevents the head from suddenly falling back).
