Ideal skin is not often given by nature, but who among the girls and women does not dream of it? Using comprehensive care, we spend enough time and investment searching for the best creams, masks, serums and fluids that would suit our skin type.
Products from domestic and foreign manufacturers replace each other one after another on the dressing table, but is it still far from achieving the ideal result? Perhaps it's time to pay attention to homemade cosmetics and enhance the effect of daily care using homemade masks.
There is no need to be skeptical about them and underestimate the effectiveness of these funds. The composition, selected individually, can cope with almost any task. For dry skin, this is primarily hydration. However, we should not forget about deep cleansing and additional nutrition, which can also be obtained using masks.
Moisturizing masks for dry skin
First of all, dry skin needs life-giving moisture, so homemade cosmetics should moisturize it, prevent drying and flaking, and eliminate the feeling of tightness. For these purposes, a mask consisting of the following ingredients is suitable:
- liquid honey – 1 tablespoon;
- egg yolk – 1 piece;
- flax oil – ½ tablespoon.
All components are mixed until smooth and slightly heated in a water bath to body temperature. Apply the mask for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with water. Flax oil helps eliminate dryness and flaking, increases elasticity and tightens the contours of the face. In combination with honey and yolk, this product not only moisturizes and softens, but also saturates the skin with a large amount of nutrients, vitamins and microelements.
Honey and egg yolk are among the most popular and effective components of masks. They have a moisturizing, nourishing and softening effect. Instead of flax oil, you can use another natural vegetable oil, selecting it individually, taking into account your skin type and its condition.
Fresh fruits and berries perfectly moisturize the skin and fill it with vitamins. Therefore, with the onset of the spring-summer season, try to make the most of these gifts of nature, not missing the opportunity to give your skin fruit and berry pleasure.
In winter, you should not give up fruits sold in supermarkets: bananas, persimmons, avocados, mangoes. It is better not to use more acidic fruits (kiwi, peaches, grapes, apples or citrus fruits), as they are more suitable for oily skin.
Include nutritious foods in your home remedies that are available all year round: sour cream, cottage cheese, chopped and brewed oatmeal. If you add fresh parsley or its juice to such masks, the skin will receive an additional complex of vitamins and a charge of vigor.
Cleansing masks for dry skin
The purpose of masks of this type is to cleanse the epidermis of peeling and dead cells, as well as to deep clean the pores, “pulling out” impurities and fat deposits from them. Cleansing masks should be carried out no more than once every 7-10 days, so as not to injure the skin and not make it even thinner and more sensitive.
It is better to take cosmetic clay as the main component of masks for cleansing dry skin. There are several types of clay that can be used individually or in combination with each other:
- White clay cleanses the skin well of impurities and dead cells, gives it velvety and freshness, and improves complexion.
- Red clay tones and promotes regeneration, suitable for dry, sensitive skin prone to redness.
- Pink clay is a combination of white and red clay, and combines the beneficial properties of both.
In order to prepare a cleansing mask at home for dry skin prone to flaking, one tablespoon of cosmetic clay is mixed with natural oil, such as olive, almond, apricot or grape seed.
Whitening masks for dehydrated facial skin
You should not include lemon juice in masks for dry skin, even if you really want to get rid of freckles, age spots and lighten your skin. The acids present in lemon have an aggressive effect, drying the skin and making it thinner.
If you want a whitening effect from a moisturizing mask, use cucumber. This vegetable, as you know, consists of 90% moisture, and as part of the mask it will generously share it with dehydrated skin.
To prepare a whitening mask, you need to grate the cucumber on a fine grater. A tablespoon of the resulting mass should be mixed with a teaspoon of natural honey and applied to the face for 20 minutes, then rinsed with water.
Honey in masks for dry skin has not only a moisturizing effect. It saturates it with useful substances and vitamins, which are contained in abundance in its composition, softens and tones, smoothes, refreshes, improves complexion and condition of the skin.
Nourishing face masks
Beneficial nutrients are oil mixtures, which contain natural vegetable oils in different proportions. You can select natural oils for such a mixture yourself by studying their beneficial properties and the effect they have on different skin types. To prepare one of these care products, you need to take equal volumes of oil:
- cedar;
- sea buckthorn;
- walnut oil.
Cedar oil saturates the epidermis with beneficial substances, restores the natural balance of dehydrated skin and softens it. Sea buckthorn oil is a real vitamin cocktail that maintains skin elasticity and moisture at the proper level. Walnut oil stimulates lipid metabolism and helps restore elasticity.
Apply the product with light patting movements on the face and neck for 15 minutes. This oil elixir softens and nourishes the skin, saturates it with vitamins and microelements, and eliminates dryness and flaking.
- This mask for dry skin does not require rinsing; its remnants can be removed with a napkin.
Recipes for anti-aging masks for dry skin
In youth, dry skin looks very attractive, but with age, its owners sooner or later face the main disadvantage. Since dry skin is usually very thin, it is more susceptible to age-related changes and rosacea, wrinkles are more noticeable on it, and they appear much faster than on oily or combination skin.
Thanks to its rich composition, including vitamins C, E and B, amino acids, allantoin, beta-carotene and natural antioxidants, aloe has an anti-inflammatory, biostimulating, rejuvenating and regenerating effect on the skin.
Aloe juice moisturizes and nourishes dry skin, gives elasticity and tone to aging skin, makes it soft, slows down age-related changes, improves complexion and protects from adverse environmental influences.
The composition of masks with aloe juice can be selected individually, depending on which components are most suitable for you. Here are a few basic recipes that can be used unchanged or changed proportions and composition as desired:
- 1 teaspoon aloe juice + 2 teaspoons honey;
- 1 yolk + 1 teaspoon sour cream + 1 teaspoon aloe juice;
- 1 teaspoon aloe juice + 1 teaspoon natural vegetable oil (olive, almond, peach or apricot kernels).
The oldest aloe leaves contain the most beneficial substances. In order to activate the production of biostimulating components, the leaves are cut off and placed for half an hour in a cold, dark place, for example, in the refrigerator. After this, they can be used to prepare masks or wipe the face with juice.
How to use homemade masks correctly?
In order for the composition of the masks to act with maximum efficiency and for all ingredients to generously share their beneficial properties with the skin, you should follow simple rules for using these products:
- Prepare the mixture for the mask immediately before use.
- All products must be fresh.
- The mask is made for one use.
- Apply the product to previously cleansed skin.
- Before application, the face should be moistened by wiping with an alcohol-free toner.
- If the mixture is not very thick, it is better to protect your clothes by covering your shoulders with a cape.
- The composition is applied with light movements, without rubbing or massaging.
- Apply the mask along the massage lines in an even, thick layer.
- Thin and delicate skin under the eyes and around the lips should be avoided.
- After applying the product, it is better to lie down and relax your facial muscles.
- Leave the mask on for an average of 15-20 minutes.
- The composition should be washed off with warm water, without using cleansers or soap.
- It is better to remove the remaining oil mixtures with a napkin.
- After removing the mask, your face should be moistened with thermal water and your usual skin care cream should be applied to the skin.
- The ideal period for applying any masks is evening, after 19 hours. At this time, the skin is most receptive to cosmetic procedures.
Masks intended for deep cleansing are recommended to be made no more than once every 7-10 days, and moisturizing and nourishing products are used twice a week. Mature skin requires increased attention, so masks can be included in the care program for aging skin prone to flaking and dryness 2-3 times a week.
Contraindications and precautions
All natural ingredients, be it honey, vegetable oils or fresh fruit, can cause an allergic reaction. In order not to aggravate the condition of dry skin in need of hydration, and to avoid an undesirable reaction to the natural components of masks, before applying them to the face, we recommend doing a tolerance test.
To do this, a small amount of the finished product or one of the components should be dropped onto an area with sensitive skin, for example, on the inner bend of the elbow or wrist. After a few minutes, you need to observe the reaction of the skin: if there is no burning, redness or other unpleasant sensations, then the mask can be applied to the face.
The great advantage of masks for dry skin prepared at home, in addition to their naturalness and the possibility of individual selection of ingredients, is the absence of preservatives, thickeners, dyes, fragrances and other chemical additives.
You should not expect an instant transformation of your skin after the first use of any, even the most useful, mask. However, using homemade cosmetics regularly, after 3-4 weeks you will be able to notice an improvement in the condition of the skin, which will result in moisturized, smooth and fresh facial skin.
Dry facial skin folk remedies
Dry skin
Dry skin is flaky and often feels tight. Due to the lack of a protective layer of sebum, dry skin reacts strongly to temperature changes. Acne appears less often on dry skin than on oily skin, but it is less durable, easily cracks, becomes rough, and flakes. Traditional medicine recommends natural masks for dry skin.

Home remedies and masks for dry skin
In the spring, after the winter cold, the skin often dries out and peels. Grate the carrots, mix with 2 tablespoons of potato flour and 1 raw egg yolk and apply the resulting mixture to your face. After 20 minutes, wash off. This mask can be done often and is good for any skin.
For dry skin, starch-tomato masks have a good effect. Grind the pulp of a small tomato, mix with potato starch until a paste forms and add 4-7 drops of vegetable oil (sunflower, corn, olive). After thoroughly mixing the components, apply this composition to your face for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse with boiled water. The course of treatment for dry skin is 10-15 masks.
Mix honey with an equal amount of milk (sour cream) and lubricate the skin of the face. This is a good emollient for dry skin.
Grind well 100 g of honey, 2 egg yolks, 100 ml of vegetable oil and heat slightly. Apply the mask in several layers. Rinse off with a cotton swab dipped in linden infusion.
Pour 2-3 tablespoons of oatmeal or wheat flakes with hot milk. Apply the resulting mass to the skin of the face, rinse with warm water.
Herbs and herbs for dry skin
Grind or grind dry mint leaves into powder. Pour 2 tablespoons of powder with enough water to form a paste-like mass. Heat it to 60-70C, cool slightly, and then apply to a well-cleaned face. Cover the top with 1 soft cloth with slits for the eyes, nose and mouth. Place cotton swabs soaked in warm tea on your closed eyes. Lie down for 15-1 20 minutes, then wash off the mask for dry skin with warm boiled water.
Therapeutic baths for dry skin
A refreshing and skin-smoothing bath is a cosmetic product for dry skin. Fill the bath with water, then dilute 50 ml of pine extract and 0.5 kg of potato starch in it. You need to take a bath at a temperature of 35-37°C for 10 minutes, then rub nourishing cream into damp skin. This bath can be taken for keratinization of the epidermis and for goose bumps.

How to get rid of dry skin on the face using folk remedies
Every woman dreams of healthy facial skin, so that she can use cosmetics to a minimum and not bother with wellness procedures. But not everyone gets only the best from nature, and then we have to restore the skin in every possible way so that the face remains young and fresh as long as possible. After all, on dry skin, wrinkles are more noticeable, and makeup does not adhere well. That's why it's important to know how to care for such skin.
Principles of dry skin care
Care includes not only the selection of cosmetics, but also the ritual of washing and drying the skin. When you're late for something, you often hastily wash your face with the first water that comes out of the tap, wipe yourself roughly to make it faster, and don't even have time to apply moisturizer. Of course, in isolated such cases, a catastrophe is unlikely to happen, but constant such care leads to peeling and dryness.
Any cosmetologist or just a woman who knows how to take care of herself will give three principles of healthy skin:
Not only dry and sensitive skin, but every skin type needs the listed procedures, but there are some differences in the composition of cosmetic products. Usually the packaging of cosmetics indicates what type it is best used for, you just need to select it carefully.
What is included in the cleansing procedure
Don't be too zealous when drying your skin. It will be enough to simply blot the moisture with a well-absorbing towel. Friction with hard fabric has a negative effect on sensitive skin, so preference should be given to soft terry products.
You should stop using toilet soap and purchase a special gel or milk. They have a gentle cleansing effect and do not deprive the skin of natural moisture. It is better to remove cosmetics with an alcohol-free toner or milk. These products are applied with a cotton pad and gently wiped over the face, after which you need to wash.
Deep cleansing of the skin is available using various scrubs or masks. For dry types, it is preferable to use gentle products. You can find a fairly mild scrub, but one prepared according to a home recipe will be healthier for the skin. The basis is finely ground oatmeal (not instant), to which a pinch of soda and a little warm water are added to make a paste. You need to rub it in a circular motion into problem areas of your facial skin, and then rinse everything off.
Nutrition and protection
Homemade products are best for nourishing the skin. This is especially true for dryness caused by changing cosmetic products. Perhaps the unnatural composition causes irritation and, as a result, peeling.
Masks containing natural vegetable oils can not only enrich the skin with vitamins, but also significantly improve the condition of the upper layer of the epidermis. Grape seed or almond oil are well suited for these purposes; you can also use more affordable unrefined olive oil.
Honey can be an additional ingredient provided there is no allergy. For a teaspoon of honey, take a tablespoon of oil, stir and apply on your face for 10 minutes. The most convenient way to remove such a mask is with a soft cloth soaked in warm water. If you carry out the procedure at least once a week, then after a month the skin will look much healthier.
A mask with glycerin prevents not only dry skin, but also the appearance of early wrinkles. You need to mix a teaspoon of glycerin and a tablespoon of any vegetable oil with warm water in the same amount, add a couple of drops of ammonia to the mixture. The mask is applied to previously cleansed skin and kept for about half an hour, and then washed with water at room temperature.
For deep nourishment of very flaky skin, a mask made of oatmeal, honey, natural vegetable oil and raw yolk is suitable. All ingredients are taken in approximately equal proportions and mixed well (pre-grind the flakes). The mask is applied with rubbing movements and left for fifteen minutes, then washed off with slightly warm water. With regular use, the skin will stop drying out and acquire a healthy tone.
You can protect your skin from the harmful effects of frost and wind using regular Vaseline. This product creates a protective layer and ensures moisture retention inside the layers of the epidermis. You just need to apply the product to your face before going outside in bad weather. You can use Vaseline all year round if your skin is subject to periodic peeling.
Moisturizing dry skin
Dryness can appear from incorrect temperature conditions in the room, insufficiently humidified air or air exposure. To give your skin a normal, healthy appearance, you first need to bring the environment back to normal or reduce its negative impact to a minimum. For example, the room temperature should not exceed 20-21°C, and air humidity should fall below 40%.
In windy or frosty weather, you need to apply a cream with glycerin, which will protect the skin from chapping and further peeling (if Vaseline was not used). After each wash and cleansing, you should immediately use a moisturizer, preferably keeping the skin slightly damp. At least a couple of days a week, the skin needs a break from cosmetics to restore its natural balance.
If your regular moisturizer no longer works, you should try making homemade masks with natural nourishing ingredients twice a week. For example, oatmeal with raw vegetables will moisturize the skin well and give a healthy glow. To prepare this mask, chopped oatmeal is mixed with finely grated potatoes and carrots. Apply the resulting mixture to the skin and leave for a quarter of an hour, then wash with warm water. After the mask, use a moisturizer.
The combination of cucumber juice and sour cream not only helps get rid of dry skin, but also makes it fairer and more radiant. Fresh cucumber should be chopped without peel and mixed with rich (ideally homemade) sour cream, applied to the face for about fifteen minutes, then rinsed off.
Washing your face with whole milk every day will help significantly improve the condition of dry facial skin. This product contains a large amount of vitamins and fats, which not only moisturize the skin, but also deeply nourish it and prevent the appearance of dryness and wrinkles. Milk washes are well suited for the evening (after thoroughly removing makeup), then there is no need to wash off the valuable product, and simply blot off the remains with a napkin and then apply the cream.
Proper care and individually selected cosmetics help maintain a healthy appearance of facial skin, relieve it from dryness and flaking. Before using any new product, purchased in a store, pharmacy, or made yourself, you need to conduct a sensitivity test to its components to avoid irritation and worsening the condition.
Video: getting rid of dry skin
There are different types of facial skin, but the most common and problematic in the autumn-winter season is, of course, dry or very dry skin.
In this article, we have collected the most useful information about the causes of this phenomenon, we will tell you what to do about it and give tips on how to prepare nourishing masks for dry skin. Let's start with the most important thing.
Causes of dryness
Dryness of the skin of the face is far from a rare phenomenon, having many causes, by identifying which, it is possible to minimize such unpleasant little things as flaking of the skin, the feeling that the face is always “tight”, etc.
So, main causes of dry skin can be called:
- Vitamin deficiency (both seasonal and simple lack of vitamins in the diet).
Age-related changes (often with age, the skin loses its natural elasticity, and even if you did not encounter a similar problem in your youth, there is no guarantee that the skin will not become drier over time).
Frequent peeling and procedures aimed at drying out inflammation, such as washing with soap and hot water (peeling is, of course, good, but you shouldn’t overdo it, a couple of times a week will be enough.) And remember that for facial peeling You need to use only gentle, special facial scrubs that will not injure the skin.
Problems of the nervous system or gastrointestinal tract (this option is worth considering if you previously had normal skin, but now it is dry, and other reasons are not your case).
Extended exposure to UV rays (always use skin protection when tanning, and remember to wear sunglasses to avoid exposing the skin around your eyes to prolonged sun exposure).
Photodermatitis on the face can lead to peeling, dryness and premature aging. Find out how to prevent this from happening.
With the onset of beach season, you should always have reliable sun protection for your face in your arsenal.
Rules of care
Oddly enough, those with dry facial skin are much luckier than those with oily skin. Since the rules for caring for this type are very simple and do not require special knowledge, tricks or costs.
In order for the condition of your skin to stop causing you inconvenience, it is enough to introduce into your daily life the observance of certain rules during procedures:
- Ban on hot water. Room temperature only!
In the morning, do not wash your face, but only wipe your skin with tonic (while washing, you deprive your skin of that protective layer of fat that has accumulated overnight).
Washing in the evening should only be done using filtered or boiled water (chlorinated water that flows through our pipes is enemy number 1 of dry skin).
Use special masks for your skin type (purchased in a store or made at home; we’ll talk about recipes a little later).
Use steam baths and hot compresses, because they are your main assistant in the question of how to moisturize your facial skin at home.Herbal steam baths
Place a decoction of herbs (sold dried in any pharmacy) in a saucepan on the table, tilt your head and cover it with a towel. The procedure should not last longer than 10 minutes, and often five is enough. Then you need to rinse your face with cool water (not tap!) and wipe with tonic or lotion to close the pores.
Hot compress
A small, clean terry towel should be soaked in hot water (the temperature should be tolerable, hold it in your hands first to avoid getting burned). Take a comfortable position and cover your face with a towel; after about 15 minutes (sometimes from 10) you can remove it. Don't forget to rinse your face with cool water. You will feel the effect literally immediately!
