Neuron (Gr. Neuron - Nerve)

A neuron is a nerve cell with its processes, their collaterals and endings. A neuron is a structural unit of the nervous system.

The processes of a neuron are called axons and dendrites. An axon transmits nerve impulses from the neuron body to other cells. Dendrites, on the contrary, receive signals from other neurons.

Neurons form complex networks and transmit information using electrical and chemical signals. Taken together, billions of neurons and their connections form the nervous system, which controls all processes in the body.
