Nephroscope

A nephroscope is an endoscopic instrument that is used to examine and treat kidney diseases. It is a flexible tube with a camera at the end, which is inserted into the renal pelvis through a small puncture in the abdominal wall.

The nephroscope is used to diagnose various kidney diseases such as kidney stones, cysts, tumors and others. In addition, it can be used to remove stones from the renal pelvis under direct visual control.

Insertion of the nephroscope into the renal pelvis can be done using special instruments that are inserted through the nephroscope. These tools allow you to remove stones, destroy them with ultrasound or using an electro-hydraulic wave.

One of the main advantages of a nephroscope is that it allows the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases without the need to make large incisions in the abdominal wall. This significantly reduces the risk of complications and shortens recovery time after surgery.

However, despite all the advantages of a nephroscope, its use may be associated with some risks and complications. For example, a nephroscope can cause infection or damage to kidney tissue. Therefore, before undergoing surgery, it is necessary to carefully evaluate all the risks and benefits.

A nephroscope, or renal endoscope, is a medical diagnostic and therapeutic technology used to examine the renal pelvis. The device consists of thin tubes and instruments that are inserted into the renal pelvis through a small puncture in the back wall of the abdominal cavity.

The nephroscope is an important tool in the treatment of kidney diseases such as urolithiasis and pyelonephritis. It is used to remove stuck stones, crush small stones into less dangerous sizes, and diagnose various kidney diseases and conditions. When examining the renal pelvis with instruments and probes inserted into the nephroscope, specialists evaluate the anatomical features of the urinary organs, detect pathological formations, blood, pus, and stones. At the same time, material is taken for a biopsy to clarify the diagnosis. Typically, an endoscope is used in diagnostic cases where special instruments are used to treat diseases without inserting an endoscope. Moreover, during nephroscopy, the doctor can detect tumors, cysts, and purulent-inflammatory processes. Endoscopy also allows you to obtain information about the presence or absence of stones. The stone can be removed without an endoscope through lithotripsy. It is important that the doctor has experience with this type of technology, as incorrect placement of the tube or instruments can lead to injury or organ damage.

Nephroscopy is a method of endoscopic examination of the kidneys and urinary tract, which involves the use of a special device - a nephroscope. Used by urologists in diagnostic procedures of urological organs for timely diagnosis of functional disorders and organs of the genitourinary system.

The procedure involves inserting a nephroscope into the patient’s bladder from the inside, through the urethra. After which a series of diagnostic actions are carried out aimed at assessing the functions of the patient’s ureter, genitourinary tract and urinary system. The duration of the procedure can vary from 5 to 60 minutes and depends on the parts of the organ being examined.

After diagnosis, the patient is prescribed a special diet and treatment. In some cases, laser treatment or lithotripsy is done. As with any medical intervention, consultation with a doctor, strict adherence to recommendations, good nutrition, exclusion of salty, spicy foods, and alcohol are required.
