The suprascapulae nerve (lat. nervus suprascapulae) is a small nerve in the upper part of the body, which is located above the scapula. This nerve provides communication between the anterior canal of the brachial plexus and the suprascapular nerve, and is also responsible for various functions.
The suprascapular nerve is part of the brachial plexus, which consists of three major motor branches and numerous secondary and accessory muscles. That is, it plays an important role in the execution of arm and shoulder movements when moving the arm. At the top of the shoulder, the nerve passes through the suprascapular point to the suprascapular fossa, entering the neck. The suprascapular point is located above the lateral parts of the clavicle, above the scapula on the inside. Through this point, the nerve penetrates the upper part of the shoulder joint, attaching to the joint capsule.
