Nerve Nasopalatine

The nasopalatine nerve (lat. n. nasopalatinus, pna, bna, jna) is a sensory nerve that innervates the mucous membrane of the nasal septum and hard palate.

It is a branch of the maxillary nerve (a branch of the trigeminal nerve). It passes through the nasopalatine canal in the thickness of the palatine bone along with the vessels of the same name. Branches into the mucous membrane of the nasal septum and gums of the hard palate.

The nasopalatine nerve provides sensory innervation to the anterior part of the nasal cavity and hard palate. Damage to this nerve leads to loss of sensation in its innervation zone.
