Nerves Ciliary Long

The long ciliary nerves are a paired cranial nerve that is responsible for the innervation of the muscle of the same name in humans. The nerve is one of the main structures of nerve III.

Anatomical name of the nerve: n. ciliare longus, lat. nervus ciliaris longus

The nerve is located on the lateral surface of the head, in the upper part of the mastoid canal. Its length is approximately 3 cm. In humans, it is paired and is part of the mixed cranial nerves. It has a white papillary body on the anterior surface of the head.
