Nerves Temporal Deep

The temporo-deep nerves, or deep temporo-nerves, are a set of nerves that provide sensitivity and innervation to the tissues of the temporal bone, dura mater, roots of the temporal foramina and venous sinuses. They are two large branches of the maxillary nerve that run along the plane of the inferior bony wall of the temporal fossa, partially crossing the inferior petrosal sinus and the apex of the pyramid of the temporal bone.

The temporocranial nerve (nervus temporalis) is the first branch of the trigeminal nerve (nervi trigemini), with the exception of part of its anterioinferior section, which is an intermediate formation between the trigeminal and maxillary nerves. It originates from the greater petrosal nerve on the anterior surface of the pyramid of the temporal lobe, passes along the edge of the occipitotemporal foramen and exits into the carotid fissure, then crosses
