A nevus, or pigmented patch of skin, is a flat-convex conglomeration of cells containing more melanin pigment than normal. A nevus is a benign formation and poses virtually no threat to the health of the owner. A nevus is a disorder of the normal development of the skin and includes several types of spots. A rare congenital nevus is also isolated - a consequence of the development of the epidermis in the embryo and having the same characteristics.
