Nitroxoline or 5‑NOK. A medicine from the antimicrobial group. Produced in the form of 5 mg tablets for the treatment of genitourinary tract infections. These are film-coated tablets, round, pink or almost pink in color. Manufactured from domestic manufacturers.

Its pharmacological properties are as follows: Antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiprotozoal. Inhibits the growth of a wide range of microbes and protozoa: bacteria, fungi, obligate anaerobic pathogens and some protozoa, such as Giardia and Trypanosomes.

The indications are as follows: 1. Infections of the bladder and urethra: cystitis, urethritis. 2. Infectious diseases of the urinary system caused by sensitive microorganisms. 3. Prevention of fermenting bacteria after treatment or surgery on the urinary system.

Contraindications are extremely few: 1. Hypersensitivity to nitroxoline or any other oxycholine derivative. In most cases, the occurrence of unwanted side reactions is rare. However, the possibility of manifestation of dyspeptic phenomena, as well as allergic ones, cannot be excluded.
