Nail Lune

The nail lunula (lat. lunula) is a part of the nail plate that remains in the form of a small plate after the formation of the nail plate itself by keratinization of the periungual fold. The part of the nail bed that remains after (during) the formation of the nail by keratinization. The nail bulb is important for maintaining hand hygiene and is a biological marker of the protective properties of the skin and fingers or toes. Thanks to this anatomical feature, hygiene is always at a high level, which is a factor in the longevity of the individual and the reason for the relatively rapid healing of wounds even in people with a weakened immune system. In conditions of environmental pollution and poor human nutrition due to excessive consumption of fast food, junk food and products with preservatives, nail holes can even act as a kind of biological indicator of the environmental situation and the presence of microbial flora. Based on the condition of the nail bulbs, it is possible to judge the general physiological state of the body, especially in cases of deterioration of its functions due to aging.
