Irradiation Fractionated

Fractionated radiation is a method of radiation therapy in which the dose of radiation is given in several sessions with breaks between them, usually from several minutes to several days. This method is used to treat tumors and other diseases that are sensitive to radiation.

Depending on the type of disease, its severity and the specifics of the affected organ, the doctor and patient choose the number of fractions and the time of separation between them. For example, with low radiosensitivity of tissues, the time from dose administration can be 60 ms. When using higher values, this time can be reduced to 5-15 ms. The duration of the pause between sessions is 1-48 hours.

Thus, fractionated radiation is safely tolerated by the body and allows more precise targeting of the patient's disease area or pathological process.
