Fainting in patients

Sometimes they experience fainting at the onset of fevers due to the effusion of bile to the mouth of the stomach; in such cases, a piece of bread with pomegranate juice or the juice of unripe grapes should be given before or during an attack. Know that when fainting and fever are combined, the fainting should be treated first, and if the patient needs food, then he is given a piece of bread soaked in three dirhams of old wine, or old apple wine, which will dissolve his excess. Bloodletting often worsens fainting, and a mild enema is more appropriate. Vomiting benefits such patients, as does stretching the shins and immersing the arms and legs in hot water. Whenever the patient wakes up, it is good to feed him cooled barley oatmeal with pomegranate seeds.
