Onychatrophy

Onychofibrous nail dystrophy (OND) is a chronic disease of the nail plates of the fingers, in which the processes of growth and formation of nails are disrupted.

!Onychofibrous dystrophic changes in nails The causes of onychofibrous dystrophy are not exactly known. However, it has been established that the disease has a certain connection with heredity. Inheritance can occur as either autosomal dominant (develops in people even without other hereditary disorders) or recessive inheritance with a dominant defect. Changes in the structure of the nail are systemic in nature, but the nail plates of the hands are the first to change. People aged 25 to 45 years are most often affected. Onychofibrosis occurs more often in men than in women. The exact reasons for the development of onychodystrophy are unknown.
