Onychia punctata

Onychia punctata, also known as o. punctatum (syn. nail-shaped), is one of the most common forms of nail pathology, which can lead to serious health problems. This is a non-invasive form of the disease that causes rashes on and under the nail bed. It appears as small white or yellow dots that can be painful and cause loss of sensation.

Onychia punctata can affect any person, but middle-aged women are most susceptible to it. In most cases, it is chronic and is often combined with a fungal infection. With chronic punctate onychia, thin, short nail plates with a gray-yellow tint appear. A common occurrence is a change in the color of the nail plate as it grows and its curvature. Nails may also become deformed and thickened.

Treatment of pinpoint onyxia is complex and includes various methods of therapy. Symptoms in the early stages of the disease can be reduced by using special corrective drugs intended for internal and external use. In case of more serious forms, nail treatment with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and painkillers is used. Electrophoresis and ultrasound are very effective

Onychia punctata is a type of fungal disease that causes changes in the color and structure of the nail plates on the hands and feet.
