Onychocheilophagia

Onychocheilophagia (from the Greek words "onycho" - nail, "cheilos" - lip and "phagein" - eat) is the habit of gnawing or biting nails and/or the skin around the nails, most often on the fingers, less often on the toes.

This habit occurs in about 30% of children aged 7-10 years and about 45% of adolescents. Girls are more often susceptible to it. Causes of onychophagia may be related to stress, anxiety, boredom or lack of attention. Sometimes this is a manifestation of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Onychophagia can lead to infection of the fingers, deformation of the nails and periungual skin, and dental problems. To get rid of this habit, it is recommended to keep your hands clean, cut your nails short, keep your hands busy with useful activities, and also consult a psychologist if necessary. Parents should be patient and not scold the child, but tactfully distract him and keep him busy with something interesting.

Onychocheilophagia – muzzled relations with my clients and Budivelnikov

*A humorous guess - how easy it is to print the contentious lines between them. What I don’t like so much and definitely don’t say it out loud, otherwise I repeat their stories again and again.* *Fear of the inconsistency that plagues me “as long as "by the shoulders. If you want to get me to do something that doesn’t suit me, then it’s suspicious and perhaps incredulous to marvel at me in the eyes of even reasonable people. Especially when I’m hanging around alone, until the stench is lost on the robot, so that “great things can be done”*

How were you shocked?
