Operation Beck-I

Operation Beck I is a surgical correction of congenital heart disease, which is based on an anomaly in the development of the outflow tract of the left ventricle, characterized by an enlargement of the outlet and a decrease in the cavity of the left ventricle to the bifurcation of the pulmonary arteries. The extracardial, accessory aorta can be a closed or open annular narrowing. In children, it manifests itself as attacks of cardiac asthma - frequent repeated coughing, cyanosis, shortness of breath and palpitations, often increased vascular pulse, periodically - short-term loss of consciousness (attacks of suffocation). For diagnosis, an X-ray examination of the chest, electrocardiography, and less often, if possible, catheterization of the cavities of the heart are performed. The main method of treatment is surgery - dissection of the interventricular septum or extracorporeal removal of stenosis; anastomosis between the additional orifice of the pulmonary trunk and the descending aorta, which eliminates blood stagnation in the pulmonary circulation and increases the functional capacity of the left ventricle.
